Middle School Service Hours

As part of the middle school curriculum students are required to complete service hours in honor of Christian stewardship and service.

Incoming 6th Grade: 20 Hours due by May 24th, 2020

Incoming 7th Grade: 30 Hours due by May 24th, 2020

Incoming 8th Grade: 45 Hours due by April 26th, 2020

Parents, please keep in mind that all of the hours must be completed at a non-profit organization (IE: churches, schools, animal shelters, beach clean ups, altar serving, to name a few). Students are given many opportunities throughout the year to complete their hours at various school events including the church carnival in November where they earn double the hours. Students may no longer get service hours for assisting SJS teachers in their classrooms before or after school. However, students may get hours for assisting teachers over the summer during classroom setup and during Panther’s closet.

When students are done with their hours, they must submit the appropriate forms and when all hours are completed students must submit  a typed reflection for a religion grade on (1) how their hours contributed to their communities, (2) what they learned, and (3) the importance of Christian service as a way of life.

Please feel free to email Bro. Lombardo D’Auria, O.F.M. Cap., Director of Religious Education at brolombardocap@stjfl.org, should you have any questions.
